The Ministry of Education has announced the names of the six recipients of the National Awards for the Academic Year 2011 to 2012.

According to a release from the Ministry, the six students are deemed to have the best claims to these awards based on their performance in the May/June 2012 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) of the CXC and the General Certificate of Education (GCE) A’Level Examinations.

The six are: Courtnae Bailey, O’mark Andrews, Jeshua Bardoo, Ijahlon Butler, Israel Carr and Jaya Debnath all from the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

The most outstanding performance was recorded by Courtnae Bailey and she will receive the Prime Minister’s Award for her outstanding performance in the Examinations.

Courtnae Bailey and O’mark Andrews will receive National Scholarship Awards while Jeshua Bardoo, Ijahlon Butler, Israel Carr and Jaya Debnath will receive exhibition awards.

Recipients of the National Awards will receive full funding for a five-year period of University Study while recipients of the Exhibition Awards will receive three years full funding for their studies.
