The UNESCO Kalinga Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the Orissa Government of India and the Indian Government is inviting candidates for the Kalinga prize for the popularization of science.

This is an international distinction to reward the efforts of a person who has had a distinguished career as writer, lecturer, radio/television programme director or film producer, which has enabled him/her to help interpret science, research and technology to the public. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of the role of science, technology and general research in the improvement of public welfare, the enrichment of the cultural heritage of nations and the problems of humanity.

Only one candidate for St.Vincent and the Grenadines may be nominated, through the National Commission for UNESCO, therefore individual nominations will not be eligible.

Candidates with the necessary qualifications, who meet the criteria stipulated, will have a chance to be selected. The applications should reach Ms. Janeil Henry, Secretary General for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, by 20th May, 2011 at the latest.
