Teachers from across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines participated in a four-day training session geared towards helping their students think critically about environmental and sustainability challenges facing their communities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the UWI Global Campus in Kingstown, local Coordinator of the training, Kimeisha Bailey, said that the day marked an exciting milestone, not just for the project, but for education in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as the programme embarks on a journey of learning, collaboration, innovation, and discovery to "empower the next generation of environmental leaders and change-makers."

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, Dr. Donna Joyette-Bascombe, thanked the teachers for attending, stating that "today represents a significant step forward in our shared vision of building a greater, greener, more resilient, and sustainable future for our nation."

Mavis Findlay-Joseph, Chief Education Officer, also noted that the session "fits perfectly with where we want to go as the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information."

Tom Chung, Third Secretary in the office of the Republic of China (Taiwan), delivering remarks on behalf of Ambassador Fiona Fan, said: "Under this initiative, we are witnessing an unprecedented level of collaboration, bringing together ministries."

The initiative was made possible by the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) in collaboration with the Government of Taiwan through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2025.
