The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines recognizes the importance of providing access to education for all its citizens, including those with special educational needs.

Special education is designed to support individuals who, for various reasons, require additional assistance and adaptive teaching methods to participate and meet the learning objectives of an educational program. These reasons may include, but are not limited to, physical, behavioral, intellectual, emotional, and social challenges. Special education programs often follow a curriculum similar to that of the regular education system, but they are tailored to meet the individual needs of students by providing specific resources, such as specially trained staff, specialized equipment, or modified learning content and objectives.

These programs may be offered within the existing educational framework or as separate classes, either within the same institution or in a different setting altogether.

In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, three institutions provide educational access to students with special needs.
